We advise you to follow these simple steps:
1. Ensure that when the agreed work is decided, that a start date is confirmed (weather permitting on external work)
3. Ensure colours are chosen for colour cards in the daylight. Artificial light gives a yellowing tinge to most colours
4. Confirm correct finishes for the paint. Do you require High Gloss, Flat Matt, or Satin Finish? All of these are a personal choice so confirm which you prefer before work commences
5. External painting should always be carried out in dry and ambient temperatures where ever possible
6. Ensure that all necessary preparation work is quoted for before the work commences. Try to get any of this work completed prior to painting work commencing
7. Is there any remedial joiner or masonry work required prior to commencement? If so, ensure these have been done prior to the start date
8. Ensure a good quality masonry paint is used if external rendering is to be painted
9. If you purchase the wallpaper always double check that:
A. You have the correct amount to complete the job
B. Ensure that each roll of wall covering has the correct matching batch number (this is a different code to the pattern number). Different batches can result in severe shading differences
10. If wall surfaces are not of a good quality, ensure the contractor allows in the quotation to fully prepare and if needed, cross line the surfaces with a good quality lining paper to ensure a good finish on which to hang the paper
11. Always check that the correct adhesive has been purchased for the wallpaper. Many of the top manufacturers of wallpaper will supply their own adhesives
12. If a wall covering appears to be faulty, immediately ask the contractor to stop work and refer the problem back to the supplier
13. The most important thing to remember, is to fully communicate with the contractor throughout the entire contractual period, if there is any part of the work which is causing concern then it is much easier to resolve problem at this point rather than wait until the job is completed
