Consultation: Manual handling at work: A brief guide (INDG143)

indg143This leaflet (previously published in 2012) provides practical guidance on reducing the risk of injury from hazardous manual handling. It helps employers comply with their duties under the Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992. We have revised the leaflet to bring it into line with our legal guide to the regulations (L23) and current ways of working. It now includes more advice on simple filters to help you identify low-risk tasks which do not need further assessment. We have removed the safe lifting tips from the leaflet, but they will be available from HSE’s website.

We would like your views on the updated guide. To take part in the consultation, please email us at MSDPP@hse.gov.uk and we will send the draft leaflet with a short question set, which needs to be returned by 24 September 2019.

#Workright

HSE recently launched a new campaigns microsite which now includes information on our Go Home Healthy campaign and links to the Musculoskeletal disorders webpages.

The microsite contains case studies and information on how to reduce the risks of MSDs.

Display screen equipment (DSE) risk management

Our exposure to display screen technology continues to increase. Preventing risks from poor or fixed postures is the aim of HSE's 1 day course on Display Screen Equipment (DSE) Risk Management. The course will be most beneficial for health and safety providers with limited knowledge or experience of DSE risk management who wish to become a DSE assessor. It takes place at HSE's Science and Research Centre near Buxton, Derbyshire on Tuesday 17 September 2019.
