MAKING TAX DIGITAL EXPLAINED

Join us at the Coventry Doubletree Hilton on Wednesday, 23rd January 2019 to hear how we can help you on this digital journey, talk about all things software, and walk you through the transition to your Digital Account.

Making Tax Digital (MTD) is a government initiative to modernise HMRC’s tax system with the aim of making the whole process of administrating tax simpler and more efficient. All your tax information will be in one place (your digital account) and you will be able to pay tax based on your business activity during the year, uploading and updating your tax account in real time.

  • The MTD initiative will be rolled out from April 2019, with the first change focussed primarily on VAT Information.
  • All VAT registered businesses with a turnover exceeding the current VAT Threshold (£85,000) will need to keep their VAT records digitally and file their returns using MTD compatible software (You will no longer be able to submit VAT returns by manually completing in the VAT return boxes on the current government gateway)
  • Businesses with turnover below the VAT threshold but have voluntarily registered for VAT, can continue to maintain their accounting records and file their VAT returns as they do currently, at least until 2020.

With MTD being introduced from April 2019, it is a good time to review your current accounting system to ensure it is both MTD compliant and the best solution for your business.

Join us on Wednesday, 23rd January 2019 where we will guide you through the new system and the key implications for businesses and individuals.
