MPs pledge to back construction apprenticeships
Over 200 people from the construction industry braved the rain to join policy makers at CITB’s ‘I’m Backing Apprenticeships’ reception in the Houses of Parliament last Wednesday (16th Sept).
CITB brought employers and apprentices from across the country to ask MPs to support construction apprenticeships in their constituencies to help encourage more young people to consider a career in construction.
Skills Minister Nick Boles MP set out his vision for apprenticeships, stressing the important role construction has to play in boosting apprenticeships, while delegates also heard from CITB Chairman, James Wates CBE and Maria Seabright from Greendale Construction along with her apprentice William Spriggs.
The event was kindly sponsored by Henry Bellingham MP, local MP to the National Construction College, Bircham Newton.
