Global paint manufacturer PPG Architectural Coatings has been given the bronze accreditation by Investors in People for its ongoing commitment to providing an outstanding work environment for its employees.

Investors in People is an internationally recognised accreditation, held by 14,000 organisations across the world, which credits outstanding leadership, support, management and sustainability.

PPG has a long-standing commitment to providing a supportive work environment for all of its employees, as well as a commitment to the communities in which it operates. This is reflected by the fact that 75 per cent of the firm’s staff live within five miles of the company’s Birstall headquarters.

To achieve the Investors in People Bronze award, PPG had to demonstrate best practice by meeting the standard’s 39 evidence requirements that are detailed in its Framework, as well as 26 additional evidence requirements that reflect the company’s achievements.

PPG’s efforts extend outside of its own employees as well, with positive contributions delivered to a number of facilities in the local community through its PPG Friends Community Engagement Scheme. Volunteering events saw Bradley Wood Scout Campsite and Activity Centre, Norristhorpe United Reformed Church, Batley Young People’s Club, and the St Peter’s School and graveyard all receive stunning makeovers.

Paul Dowie, HR director, said: “We are delighted to have received the accreditation. Our people are the most valuable part of our business and having an engaged workforce is one of the most important requirements for ensuring we have a successful business which can provide sustainable employment.

“At PPG, having the right vision and direction is helping to establish an effective culture for achieving excellence. It gives our employees a sense of purpose and helps channel their efforts towards the achievement of our business objectives.

“We are looking forward to going from strength to strength in the IIP standard.”
