Funding for new employees through the kickstart scheme

23 September 2020

The Kickstart Scheme provides funding to employers to create job placements for 16 to 24 year olds.

This government initiative provides funding to employers to create new 6-month job placements for young people who are currently on Universal Credit and at risk of long-term unemployment.

This is part of the government’s Plan for Jobs and aims to create hundreds and thousands of new, fully funded jobs across England, Scotland and Wales. The first placements are likely to be available from November.

What funding is available

Funding is available for:

  • 100% of the relevant National Minimum Wage for 25 hours a week
  • associated employer National Insurance contributions
  • employer minimum automatic enrolment contributions

There is also £1500 per job placement available for setup costs, support and training.

The funding is available to companies of all sizes there is no minimum or maximum placement requirement.
