New Health and Safety in Painting and Decorating Handbook launched as an app

7 January 2022

The latest health and safety advice is now just a click away for Members of national trade body the Painting and Decorating Association (PDA), after the development of a progressive web app.

The Health and Safety in Painting and Decorating Handbook, produced by the PDA, is now available to Members online – and will be updated instantly as regulations change.

The technology ensures PDA Members will always have the latest advice to hand and while the app content reflects the format of the previously printed handbook, it also has a search function for ease and speed.

PDA Chief Executive, Neil Ogilvie, said: “The content of the Health and Safety Handbook has been reviewed by our Health, Safety and Environment committee, so everything is as up-to-date as possible.

“But legislation changes can happen quickly, which is where the development of the progressive web app is so valuable.

“The app allows Members to easily find the topic they need – and because it’s online, we can easily update the content, so the latest information will be instantly available.

“Member feedback indicated that information accessible from a smartphone, tablet, laptop or desktop PC would be the most useful format, so we have taken that on board and developed this digital version which is compatible with all those devices.

“The handbook is a valuable asset to PDA Member companies of all sizes, as it provides a handy reference tool for all operatives and is one of the major benefits of PDA membership.”

The app is now live, and Members can access the web app by visiting handbook.paintingdecoratingassociation.co.uk and entering their current PDA website login details.
