The Painting and Decorating Association (PDA) is wholly owned and managed by its Members.
Each year an Annual General Meeting of the Association is held, which is open to all subscribing and Honorary Life Members of the PDA. Our Honorary Treasurer and Management Board are elected and auditors for the Association are appointed during the meeting.
At this year’s AGM, longāstanding PDA Member Bob Smith, who has fulfilled the role of National Treasurer since 2009, will be retiring ā thank you for your sterling work Bob!
We are now seeking a PDA Member to become our new Honorary Treasurer.
Duties & Responsibilities of the Honorary Treasurer
The Hon Treasurer (and Trustee) is elected annually by the Members at the Annual General Meeting from nominations received. He/she has a watchdog role over all aspects of financial management, working closely with the Chief Executive and Management Board to safeguard the Associationās finances and assets.
In summary, The Hon Treasurer is responsible for:
- General financial oversight
- Financial planning and budgeting with the CEO
- Financial reporting
- Overview of banking, investments, bookkeeping and record keeping
- Control of fixed assets and stock
The Hon Treasurer typically acts as an information and reference point for the CEO and Chair of the Management Board, clarifying the financial implications of proposals, confirming legal requirements, outlining the current financial status and retrieving relevant information.
The work involves creating monthly reports from the bookkeeperās accounts, attending four Management Board meetings a year at PDA HQ or via Zoom and attending the Annual General Meeting. The financial information is derived directly from the PDAās Sage accounts by remote access or from emailed reports provided by the bookkeeper (such as Profit & Loss, Trial Balance, Balance Sheet and Debtors and Creditors etc.). Typically, downloading the information and preparing a financial summary and report can take 4-6 hours per month.
Understanding bookkeeping and especially Sage Accounting software would be an advantage.
The Hon Treasurer receives an Honorarium and travel and general expenses.
