AkzoNobel has been recognised at the 2022 BCF Awards with a trio of wins comprising:

  • Best Corporate Social Responsibility for the Community Fund
  • Marketing Campaign of the Year Award for the Simply Refresh launch and campaign
  • BCF Apprentice of the Year for Andrew Roser

Recognised for its CSR impact, AkzoNobel’s Community Fund was established in 2020 in response to witnessing the incredible acts of kindness made by staff during the pandemic. Over the two years that the programme ran, the business contributed an annual £50,000 donation pot, whilst a group of 14 staff members from across the organisation volunteered to help distribute the funds. A total of £101,000 was contributed to over 100 charities providing a range of support and 42,795 beneficiaries had their lives positively impacted by the Fund.

AkzoNobel was also awarded the prestigious Marketing Campaign of the Year Award for Dulux’s Simply Refresh campaign. Following a pandemic-driven decorating boom, the launch was carefully designed to keep the new passion for decorating alive. The launch was supported by a 360-communication plan targeting younger audience and demonstrating that decorating is worth the time and money. The hero element of the campaign was the reboot of the largest advertiser funded programme ever seen on Channel 4, Changing Rooms. The impressive results included a 4% increase in category penetration in a single quarter, which translated to 5 million additional litres of paint sold.

To top off the trio of wins, Andrew Roser was awarded the BCF Apprentice of the Year Award. After undertaking a Level 4 Sales Apprenticeship and receiving a distinction, Andrew has since been promoted to National Sector Lead in January 2022 as a result of his contribution to the business.

José Antonio Jiménez, Managing Director, Decorative Paint UKI, AkzoNobel, said,

“It is a privilege to be recognised by the BCF. I see the impressive work our team is doing everyday so it is always a pleasure to see them getting the industry recognition that is so well deserved. Our people are at the heart of each of these awards and it is their passion that drives AkzoNobel forwards.”
