Proud To Support The Battle Of Britain Memorial Refurb

It has been 80 years since D-Day, the largest seaborne invasion in history, and the beginning of the liberation of Western Europe. To commemorate this, Brewers were thrilled to be able to donate specialist paint and provide expert knowledge to support the refurbishment of The Battle Of Britain Memorial in Capel-le-Ferne between Dover and Folkestone.

The memorial features a central figure that sits on a propeller boss surrounded by the badges of all the allied squadrons and other units that took part in the battle. The blades of the propeller are set into the ground, making the memorial as striking from the air as it is for the visitors on the ground.

The propellor is 200 metres squared and was painted in white. The paint desperately needed refreshing and Brewers were only too happy to help! Brewers Folkestone and Area Development Manager, Shayne McCosh, asked for Bedec to collaborate on the support and specified Bedec Barn Paint as the best finish for the propellor. Bedec kindly donated 20L and we were able to donate a further 20L and sundries to get the job finished.

The viewing deck at the memorial also needed some attention, so we were delighted to be able to donate our new Albany All Purpose Woodstain in Light Oak to refresh the existing and new boards that make up the area.

The final result looks incredible! It was such a pleasure to be able to visit the memorial and see the transformation. Take a look for yourself >>
