Bringing colour to Swindon whilst also engaging with a local youth group was the mission of the incredibly talented muralist and illustrator, Dário Santos…so when he reached out to us asking for support, we just knew that we had to get involved in helping make this corner of the world a brighter place!
Over £500 worth of paint and decorating supplies were donated to the project that looked to transform the Covingham Underpass, a dreary part of Swindon that needed some brightening.
Dário worked with a group of young people from the Youth Justice Service who were looking to turn their lives around by reengaging with the local community. The group were involved in the whole process, working with Dário on the mural design and the execution.
The design aimed to encompass a celebration of Swindon, including elements such as a steam train and robins in a nod to the football team. The overall aim of the design was to add some cheer and brightness to the lives of the commuters who regularly use the tunnel.
The whole process took weeks of planning and hard work, but the overall result has received a very positive reception. Dário was thrilled with the project and said it was a complete joy to work on.
The mural was unveiled just weeks before Swindon Paint Fest, a local street art festival Brewers have been thrilled to support for many years in a row.
