CITB Research
In early 2025, CITB will be undertaking research that focuses on the audience perception and understanding of the industry, including understanding the latest trends and platforms. The research will also look to gain an understanding of the role that social class, social capital, and cultural capital play in shaping career decision making and career ambitions.
The research will involve a number of employer interviews. Please email [email protected] if you would be interested in being involved.
DfE T Level events
There are currently 16 T Levels available to young people, three of which are construction specific (Building Services Engineering / Design, Surveying & Planning / Onsite Construction).
Data published by the DfE earlier this year shows that the T Level with the highest proportion of students where the Industry Placement has not been completed by August of their second year is Building Services Engineering.
Over the next few months, the DfE are hosting a number of free practical online and in-person sessions to help employers explore, plan and host T Level industry placements:
- Developing tomorrow’s workforce – an introduction to T Level industry placements – 6 February 2025
- T Levels Employer Support Conference (South West) – 12 February 2025
- T Level Employer Support Conference (East of England) – 3 April 2025
- T Level Employer Support Conference (East Midlands) – 25 June 2025
CIOB mental health survey
Following a report released in 2020 which highlighted that 97% of construction workers had experienced high levels of stress, CIOB are surveying the sector again as part of their ongoing mission to address mental health problems within the industry. The survey is open until 31 January 2025 and can be accessed here: www.ciob.me/mentalhealth.
