At Brewers, we want to be a driving force for positive change around mental health, so being able to support the Gainsborough based mental health charity, Bearded Fisherman, was a huge privilege.
Founders of Bearded Fisherman, Rick Roberts and Mick Leyland started a mental health support group back in 2019 after the loss of a fellow fisherman to suicide. Since then, the organisation has grown, evolving into a mental health and suicide prevention charity, offering 24-hour support to people in need.
The organisation has street teams, emergency response teams, counselling teams and peer supporters. These teams are all formed by dedicated volunteers who have become an incredible support group for those who need it most.
The organisation is also actively engaging with the local community to educate, provide a safe and secure support centre as well as hosting a series of activities to encourage positive mental health.
Recently, two studios have been created to be used as a radio station and podcasting space, giving people the opportunity to learn new skills and make connections with new people. Brewers were thrilled to be able to support this with the donation of decorating materials to get the space looking it’s best!
“We want to thank Brewers Decorator Centres for the kind donation of all the decorating items they let us choose, this has really helped us to make the support centre very welcoming and colourful. The donation was very welcome and helped out a lot.”
Rick Roberts, Chairman of Bearded Fisherman
