The Product Regulation and Metrology Bill has received Royal Assent.
The Ladder Association welcomes the new Product Regulation and Metrology Act, as this is the first step in the right direction to improve consumer safety.
They now need to swiftly see details on the specific legislation that will change the landscape and practices of direct sellers using online marketplaces, to make them safer and protect the public from dangerous products.
Their ongoing market surveillance studies have highlighted the serious risks posed to consumers by unsafe and non-compliant ladders sold online. The Ladder Association now need to ensure online marketplaces are held accountable for the safety of the products sold on their platforms.
