Shortlist announced for the 40th edition of the Johnstone’s Painter of the Year Awards

9 April 2024

PPG has announced the shortlist for this year’s Johnstone’s Painter of the Year Awards and with 32 finalists being recognised across six categories, this year’s milestone ceremony is set to be bigger and better than ever.

The 40th edition of the Painter of the Year Awards will bring together professional painters and decorators from across the country to celebrate the very best skill and expertise the industry has to offer.

PPG will bring the celebrations back to Leeds, the home of its UK headquarters, this year, with the prestigious awards ceremony set to be hosted on Saturday 1 June 2024 at the Queen’s Hotel – a landmark location at the heart of the city.

In its biggest celebration to date, the event will see the six category winners announced on the night. Each of these projects will then go head-to-head to see who is crowned ‘The Supreme Winner’ – with the winner voted for by attendees at the ceremony.

Hundreds of entries were submitted by painters and decorators across the UK, ranging from impressive home and hotel renovations to educational and external settings. Each project has been assessed by PPG’s team of technical and colour experts and judged based on the quality of the decorative finish, the intricacy of the work involved, and the technical and logistical challenges presented by the project.

Megan Esmond, PPG marketing director, UK & Ireland, said:

“We’re delighted to be hosting the Johnstone’s Painter of the Year Awards again – this truly is a milestone year for us, and it’s only fitting that we celebrate the 40th anniversary of the awards locally in Leeds!

“Painter of the Year is an amazing opportunity for us to recognise, celebrate and reward the outstanding work that painters and decorators are doing across the UK on a daily basis, and the standard continues to improve year on year.

“Choosing the shortlist has been harder than ever, but we thank everybody who entered and wish huge congratulations to all the finalists. We can’t wait to crown the winners at what promises to be a fantastic evening!”
